FAQ
If you don't know, now you know
Can I provide my own alcohol?
Yes. We are a turn-key bar service and provide everything needed for the bar, but the alcohol is the one thing we allow you to provide. Our clients get exclusive access to our alcohol calculator as often as they like to determine how much alcohol to purchase.
You may also opt to have us purchase the alcohol for you. All alcohol we purchase is on your behalf and is a reimbursement. The best part is that all unused alcohol is still yours to keep!
Additionally, ask about our concierge service, which allows you to return unused products and provide extra products on the night of event. This prevents you from over or under-purchasing.
Are cocktail tastings available?
Yes! A tasting session is an optional add-on. Our events manager will set up a time to meet in your home so you can taste 8 cocktails and choose the ones you’d like as your signature cocktails. If you have any special requests, please let us know, and we'd be happy to recreate them.
Where can Copa Bar Service operate?
Most of our events take place at event venues, private residences, or corporate offices. We can bring cocktail service to hotels or other businesses, so long as they allow outside vendors. We can only operate in public spaces with special state permits. As the host, It is your responsibility to ensure your venue allows alcohol and that we are permitted to serve there. If you’d like us to talk directly with the venue, we are happy to do so and produce commonly requested documents like a business certificate of existence, proof of insurance, and alcohol server certification. If we have a contract and later find out we are unable to operate in that location, no refunds are issued as we have already begun working on details and we have turned other bookings away to reserve your spot.
Some of our guests are not drinkers. Do you offer special non-alcoholic options?
Absolutely. Our non-drinking friends are just as important and should always feel included. Non-alcoholic versions of our specialty cocktails are available in most cases. Many of our mixers are made from scratch and those abstaining from alcohol can enjoy "mocktails."
My Aunt Sue only drinks Vodka Sodas. Will there be simple mixers as well as your specialty cocktails?
Yes. Our cocktail Packages include simple mixers like soda water, tonic, ginger ale, ginger beer, cranberry juice, orange juice, grapefruit juice, pineapple juice, sour mix, Coke products, and garnishes for all those "Aunt Sues" out there.
My go-to bar serves this cocktail called "blank" and we want to offer it for our guests. Can you recreate our fave?
We love a challenge!
My friends are a rowdy bunch and can get out of hand with open bars. Will you cut people off?
Serving up enchanting libations is our mantra, but doing so safely is our duty. Our staff has alcohol server certification and is trained according to the DABS guidelines to responsibly serve alcoholic beverages. We are also the friendly ones and have no problem talking someone into water or soda instead.
How do gratuity and/or tip jars work?
This is ultimately up to you. Bartenders will display a tip jar unless you choose to add additional staff gratuity, in which case we will skip the tip jar.
The two options are 15% gratuity with a tip jar displayed, or 25% gratuity without a tip jar displayed.
Are you insured?
Of course. We carry 4 different types of insurance to protect you, the venue, and our team. Our $1m/$2m general and liquor liability policy automatically covers you, but if you want to be listed as additionally insured, let us know beforehand.
If you require additional coverage or any special forms, you are responsible for the additional cost of those.
I'm a venue owner. Will Copa Bar Service leave the area a mess after they are done?
No, our team will leave the bar serving area tidy as we found it.
Do you travel?
Yes 👍 Travel rates include mileage and accommodations. Travel fees are applied to events outside of Salt Lake, Summit, Utah, and Weber counties. Inquire about travel rates for your event via our Contact Us Page.
What do bartenders wear?
Bartenders will wear dark pants and a black button-up top. If there is a specific dress code, we may be able to accommodate.
What is your cancellation policy?
You have 72 hours from booking to cancel with a full refund on the retainer, after which no refund will be granted.
If you need to postpone, you may apply your retainer to another event within 6 months of your original event date, subject to availability. A sub-contract will be created reflecting the date change. Postponements must be requested prior to 2 weeks before your original event date as we have already begun staffing and procurement.
A 25% retainer is required to book. This retainer goes towards your total invoice. This retainer is non-refundable.
